The long-awaited commercial center at the Calexico East Port border crossing is nearing reality!
East Port Gateway Center, a 38-acre mixed use commercial cluster, will bring additional services and amenities to the area and create a catalyst for expanding commercial and industrial development.
With over 650,000 commercial trucks traveling north and south bound annually, the East Port border crossing is the 8th busiest commercial crossing in the U.S. (including both southern and northern borders), and the largest commercial crossing from San Diego to El Paso. In addition to all the commercial traffic, nearly 10 million auto passengers travel north and south bound through this border area every year.
Complimenting the border traffic and offering significant patronage to Gateway Center businesses, the city of Mexicali, with over 1 million residents, lies immediately to the south of the border. Mexicali is a vibrant and growing metropolis, with an annual growth rate of 3%, and thriving manufacturing and food production industries. A diverse manufacturing industry, operating out of 24 million square feet of commercial facilities, includes such sectors as: aerospace, automotive, electronics, plastics, medical equipment, glass, and office equipment. Mexicali and the state of Baja California are significant agricultural sectors, producing everything from asparagus to strawberries. A vast majority of the manufactured and grown goods in and around Mexicali are exported through the East Port border crossing.
Opportunities abound for retail from postal and delivery services, to auto and truck parts sales. Select from drive-through parcels, flexible warehouse and office options, convenience stores and gas station pads, or mini storage.
